What affects the cost of a paver patio
Short answer
The price of a paver patio depends mostly on its size, whether old concrete or lawn has to be removed, how easy it is to get equipment to the area, how much base and drainage work the soil and slope need, and which pavers and borders you pick. That's why we price each job after seeing the yard, not from a price list.
Size and shape
More square footage means more material and labor. Curves, multiple levels and lots of cuts around steps or planters add labor compared with a simple rectangle.
What has to come out first
Removing an old concrete slab, roots or lawn, and hauling it away, is part of the job. Replacing a slab usually costs more than building on open ground.
Access
A backyard reached only through a narrow side gate means more material moved by hand. Wide access for small equipment makes the work faster.
Base, soil and drainage
This is the part you don't see and the reason a patio lasts. Clay soil, slopes toward the house or standing water may call for deeper base, grading or drains. Skipping it is how cheap patios sink and shift.
Materials
Paver style, thickness, color blends, borders and extras like steps, seat walls or lighting all change the price.
