Concrete & masonry repair
Common signs
- Cracked or heaved driveway and patio sections
- Sunken or broken concrete steps
- Trip edges on walkways and side yards
- Damaged block, brick, stone or stucco walls
How we fix it
We cut out and re-pour failed sections on a compacted base, reset steps, and rebuild damaged masonry. If roots, water or a thin base caused it, we fix that too so it doesn't crack again.

Common signs
- Wall leaning, bulging or cracking
- Wet soil or water seeping through the face
- Loose or fallen blocks and caps
- Rotting wood or tie walls
How we fix it
Most failing walls lack drainage behind them. We rebuild the failed section with drain rock, filter fabric and a perforated drain pipe, or replace the wall when the footing has failed. Taller walls may need a permit and engineering, and we tell you at the estimate.

Common signs
- Standing water or a soggy lawn after rain
- Water against the house or in the crawlspace
- Clogged or broken yard drains and downspout lines
- Erosion on slopes and side yards
How we fix it
We find where the water comes from and where it can go, then clear or replace failed lines, add French drains or catch basins, and re-grade so water moves away from the house.

Repair questions we get
- Do you do concrete repair near me in the East Bay?
- Yes. We repair cracked and sunken concrete steps, walkways, patios and driveway sections across Contra Costa and Alameda County, including Walnut Creek, Danville, San Ramon, Alamo, Brentwood and Pacheco. We work from Bay Point, so most East Bay addresses are a short drive.
- Can a leaning retaining wall be repaired, or does it need replacing?
- Sometimes a short section can be reset with new drainage behind it. If the footing has moved or the wall is tall and leaning along its length, rebuilding is usually the only fix that lasts. Taller walls can need a city or county permit; we check that for your address.
- Do you take repair jobs, or only new projects?
- We take repairs. Cracked concrete, sunken steps, leaning retaining walls and drainage problems are a big part of what homeowners call us about. Alonso looks at it in person and gives a free written estimate.
- How do I know if it can be repaired or needs replacing?
- It depends on why it failed. If the cause is local (one settled section, a blocked drain, a few loose wall blocks), a repair usually lasts. If the base, footing or drainage behind it failed across the whole area, a repair won't hold, and we tell you that honestly.
- My retaining wall is leaning. Is it dangerous?
- A leaning or bulging wall usually means water pressure is building behind it because drainage is missing or clogged. It is worth looking at soon, before it gets worse. Keep people and cars away from the base, and call us for a site visit.
- Water pools in my yard after rain. What's the fix?
- Common fixes are clearing or replacing a failed drain, adding a French drain or catch basins, or re-grading so water runs away from the house. On East Bay clay soil, water doesn't soak in quickly, so it has to be carried somewhere. We find where the water comes from before picking the fix.
- Will repaired concrete match the old concrete?
- New concrete always looks newer at first. We get close on finish, and on very visible areas we may suggest replacing a full panel so it looks clean.
- How much does a repair cost?
- It depends on the size of the damaged area, what caused it, access, and haul-away. We don't quote prices blind. Alonso measures and gives you a free written estimate.
Comparing bids?
Four things to check before you choose
Base depth and compaction
Ask how deep the gravel base goes and how it is compacted. A thin base is the most common reason pavers sink and concrete cracks.
Where the water goes
The estimate should explain slope and drainage, so water moves away from the house and does not pool behind walls.
A license you can look up
Check the contractor's license on the California CSLB website before signing anything.
Scope in writing
Compare what each bid actually includes — materials, demolition, haul-away and cleanup — not just the final number.
Alonso is happy to walk you through any of these on site, even if you are comparing several quotes.
